Dry underfloor heating runs on electricity. A series of coils or wires is laid beneath your floor and warms the room from the ground up. Unlike wet underfloor heating, which pumps hot water from your boiler through pipes, a dry system works on its own, straight off the electrics.
That makes it easy to control and efficient to run. You can set it to come on at certain times and switch itself off once the room reaches the temperature you’re after, so you’re never paying to heat an empty room.

In most cases, yes. Dry underfloor heating sits happily under tile, stone, laminate, vinyl and engineered wood, among others. The floor finish affects how the system is laid and how it performs, so we’ll take a look at what you’ve got and tell you what works best.
It’s designed to be efficient. Because it heats evenly and can be programmed to run only when you need it, you’re not wasting energy. Running costs depend on the size of the area and how well the room is insulated, which is exactly the sort of thing we’ll talk through before you commit.
Both. Dry systems are actually ideal for retrofits and single rooms because they run independently of your boiler – so you can add heating to a bathroom, kitchen or extension without touching the rest of the central heating.

As a rule of thumb, dry (electric) suits individual rooms, retrofits and anywhere you want independent control; wet (water) tends to make sense for whole-house systems in a new build. We fit and look after dry systems, and we’ll always give you honest advice on which way to go for your property.
